The Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) is a grant making and ad Foundations Network. OSIWA works to see the creation of open societies in west Africa.The OSIWA strategy focuses on three broad outcomes Strong Strong governance institutions, processes and structures transparent, accountable, and intolerant of impunity, Vigorous capacity of civil society organizations and inclusive participation in decision-making; and Robust protection of fundamental rights and citizensh exposed to discrimination. The country programs will be implemented in: Benin, Cote Guinea, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone.

Planned Country Interventions for 2011 - Issues to be addressed - OSIWA seeks proposals in the following countries under the objectives: Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone
Outcome 1 - Strong governance institutions, processes and structures are transparent, accountable, and intolerant of impunity. . . . . .

Outcome 2- Vigorous capacity of civil society organizations citizen participation in decision-making including but not limited NGO and CSO participation in constitutional, electoral, judic reforms; strengthen the capacity of civil society; suppo participation in local government decision making; en access to public information and the enactment of access to inf conducting regional and international advocacy

Eligibility
OSIWA primarily awards grants to local organizations based in the nine countries in West Africa in which OSIWA works. In rare and limited circumstances commitment to transfer knowledge to local groups they partner with.

OSIWA requires all organizations seeking funding to submit a completed application form, budget and a Monitoring Evaluation plan
