The role
To directly support the agency’s strategic IT initiatives by working with Save the Children International Regional Management, Country Management, country based IT staff and Save the Children members as needed to complete IT projects and support work. To assist, train and provide higher level support to field office IT support staff of offices located in the geographical region. To act as the liaison between the field office IT staff and HQ. To enforce IT guidelines and policies through the region. To lead the region’s IT Support Staff and country offices as it pertains to IT related issues.


Required skills and experience
• Significant experience in a Level 2 or Level 3 IT help desk/technical support role, supporting a user base that is not in the same physical location.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows and MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Must have a thorough understanding and knowledge of Outlook and email related products and concepts.
• Good working knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructures (routers, modems, switches, etc)
• Solid experience in maintaining, trouble shooting and administering a Microsoft Windows based network (LAN) and servers.
• Good working knowledge of Windows server and domain system configuration.
• Extensive working experience with antivirus software for workstations and servers.
• Good working knowledge with MS Exchange Server.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to work with minimum supervision and willingness to work in a team environment.
• Strong ability to be detailed and provide detailed documentation.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Previous experience in NGOs or private sector is an added advantage.
• Experience and/or familiarity with routers and routing systems.
• Demonstrate ability and aptitude to train other technical staff.
• Ability to work with outside vendors (hardware, software, services, IPS’s, Telecommunications, etc)

Position Summary
The Senior Program Officer will assist in developing and managing all program aspects for a program focusing on transitional justice in East Africa. He/she will assist with strategic design, program design, oversight of program activities, backstopping field offices, monitoring and evaluation, financial management, fundraising, advocacy, outreach, staff supervision, and administration. The Senior Program Officer will report to the Director for Africa programs.

Minimum Qualifications  
  •  Bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • 6 - 8 years of experience conducting democracy and human rights programs
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
  • Strong knowledge of human rights principles and mechanisms, transitional justice, and understanding of democracy promotion
  • Substantive knowledge or experience with transitional justice issues, specifically of complementarity, reparations and institutional reform
  • Expertise in democracy and human rights issues in the Africa region
  • Proven knowledge of USG funding regulations, and familiarity with US Congressional processes
  • Proven ability to write effective proposals, reports, procedures, complete required forms, and maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Strong ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, and multi task to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong program management skills from design through implementation, evaluation, and close-out
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times
  • Knowledge/familiarity of democracy in Latin America a plus
