2011 Opportunities at Forum Syd- Baseline Survey Consultant
Purpose of ToR- Consultancy to conduct a baseline study for the Tushirikishe Jamii Project (a social accountability project)
Deadline for submission- 21 March 2011
Objectives of the Baseline Survey
• To provide information for planning the project, including information about nature of governance of constituency development initiatives in Kenya; and specifically looking at the 6 focus constituencies. ( looking at both the demand and supply side)
• To provide information on the status of community participation especially the target group in the constituency development initiatives in the target constituencies.
• To provide benchmark information for measuring project achievements and impact (at the project objectives, intermediate results levels)
• To provide information on the number of civil society/youth groups actively engaged in issues of citizen participation in good governance in the target
• To identify benchmarks and indicators which can be used as a point of reference for monitoring and evaluation of the Tushirikishe Jamii project
• To review current monitoring and evaluation tools identify gaps and clear indicators for the Tushirikishe Jamii project
- To review the LFA with inclusion of baseline and targets

2011 Consultancy at Forum Syd- designing, developing & printing project IEC materials

Purpose of this TOR: Consultancy to design, develop and print IEC materials for the Tushirikishe Jamii Project using participatory approaches.
Major tasks to be undertaken by consultant
Ø Develop appropriate educative statements, phrases and words to use both in English and Kiswahili (and any local languages as will be deemed necessary).
Ø Design IEC materials on which the educative and informative message would be imprinted.
Ø Design materials that are acceptable and will resonate well with the target audience and cultural acceptable.
Ø Ensure IEC materials are compliant with Forum Syd’s communication and visibility plan which was shared with Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs
Ø Ensure compliance with the European Union Communication and Visibility guidelines as stated in their manual.
Ø Include the views of all stakeholders and partners in this project .

Background
Forum Syd is a Swedish NGO with regional offices in Nairobi and headquarters in Sweden. Forum Syd’s main focus is on democracy and rights. It does this mainly through the strengthening of civil society organizations. More details can be found in the website Forum Syd Africa Website or the Forum Syd Global Website.
Forum Syd has received funds from the European Commission through the Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs for a 23 months Project entitled Tushirikishe Jamii aimed at increasing people participation in good governance and development in Rift Valley and Nyanza in 6 targeted constituencies.
Project Officer
The primary role of the Officer will be to oversee and provide technical support to the project and organizations implementing the project at the grassroots level. The Project Officer at Forum Syd will work with the 2 partner organization staff and will be wholly responsible for the successful coordination, management and completion/extension of the Project.
Driver
Forum Syd is looking for a suitably qualified male or female driver mechanic to join the Organization. He/she will be mostly attached to the Tushirikishe Jamii Project but is expected to support the office when not in the field. The main roles of the driver mechanic are to provide logistical support, drive, regularly service and maintain Forum Syd’s vehicles. He/she is expected to will travel to the field 50% of the time.
