European Union- Call For Applications for Professional Photographers -The Beauty of Africa

What?
The Delegation of the European Union with the African Union, in partnership with the African Union is organizing a contest for professional photographers residing in Africa.


Theme:
"The beauty of Africa in all its forms" is intended to promote a positive image of the continent and especially encourage creative photographic productions, original and personal of a modern Africa.


Price & Promotion:
Five winners will be selected (one for each African region: North Africa, South, West, East, and Central) by an internationally renowned jury. 
 1 winner (first prize): 3,000 euros photographic equipment
 4 Second Prizes: € 1,000 photographic equipment.
Images submitted by the 5 winners will be exhibited at the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) in late January 2011. The five selected photographers will be invited to attend the event as well as a training workshop specifically on the sidelines of the exhibition. This event will also benefit from extensive media coverage.


Eligible applicants:
This contest is open to professional photographers of African or European descent residing in Africa.

EU Restricted Call for Proposals -Promotion of Inclusive & Empowered CSOs & and Local Authorities

Delegation of the EU to Ghana restricted call for proposals - Ghana
Title: Promotion of Inclusive and Empowered Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Development in Ghana

The global objective of the Call for Proposals is to “support actions aimed at promoting an inclusive and empowered society in Ghana.” It is an “actor-oriented” programme with a small research component aiming at strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations as a precondition for a more equitable, open and democratic society.

The specific objective of the Call for Proposals is to “contribute to an increased performance of non-state actors and their networks in ensuring a more effective, committed and nationwide engagement of communities in local planning and decision making processes as well as to support the development of a more comprehensive and harmonized approach for social accountability in Ghana .
Grant amount: The minimum amount that applicants can apply for is  EUR 300,000 while the maximum amount is  EUR 500, 000  ( with a minimum contribution of 10% of Ghanaian organizations and 25% for EU member state applicants)

The European Commission Restricted Call for Proposal- Sudan

Title: The European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS) –Sudan
Deadline:  8th November 2010

The call for proposal falls under EIDHR is Objective 2 which is: Strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in facilitating the peaceful conciliation of group interests and consolidating political participation and representation.
The specific objectives (s) of the Call for Proposals are:

  1. Strengthen civil society efforts to bring about legislative changes and to improve state policy on fundamental human rights issues.

  1. Enhancing Political Representation and Participation

  1. Enhancing the inclusiveness and pluralism of the civil society.

Grant amount: The minimum amount that applicants can apply for is EUR 50,000 while the maximum amount is EUR 150, 000

Eligibility
The Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS) for Sudan focuses on in-country civil society organisations (CSOs) which may wish to cooperate with regional, European-based or other organisations and national public-sector institutions (including National Human Rights Institutions).
Organizations eligible must fall under the following criteria:

        Civil society organizations (including NGOs and CBOs)
        Third level academic institutions
        Independent political foundations (NOT political parties)
        National Human Rights Commissions and Parliamentary bodies
        Private sector non-profit agencies
